System of Romance | A Comprehensive Synth-Based Archive

G'day! 2026 finally arrives to spread out the canvas or page for a brand new life chapter. As an opener, I wanna give some light to a diamond mine for classic synth-based music fans out there. What's so special about this blog is that the way I found it through Wiby. If you're not familiar with what that is, it's basically a search engine for non-commercial personal websites; old-school kind to be clear. We're talking about raw HTML/CSS on display! From what I heard, indexed sites don't have JavaScript? Makes sense if that's the case, since the main goal here is to ensure said sites are discoverable and run well on older computers,s so complex coding potentially breaks the exploring experience for some. Like I said, since they're meant for very old sites, most of the result pretty much what you expect from them - classic old-school aesthetic, niche interest showcase, outdated information by today's standard, inactive in term of updates, you name it.

While the blog in question indeed has similar characteristics, there's one thing that makes it stick out so much for me. You see, when I made the search with my interest as keywords, I didn't expect much from it. The results themselves were very countable to give you any picture. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that it is a fairly updated blog. Even crazier that I'm not familiar with most bands in the entries (heard of some but not know much in details), thus making it more intriguing to explore. To be fair, I'm more leaning to rockier side of goth like some dark post-punk, goth-rock and deathrock but that's beside the point alright.

Another major factor drawing me into the blog is the sheer passion the author(s) have for each music entry. Like you can feel it seeping in when reading it one by one. Something that I can relate to, halfway that is. What I meant is that as much as I savour some music like a whole buffet in my party mind, I seem to be unable to articulate words to explain them well. Everything make sense input-wise, but it's all a jumbled mess on the output. That extensive music reviews from articles, magazines, websites, record labels, verbal if in video format, etc… I'm not that guy, really am. Oddly enough, seeing someone able to express their interest the way I wished to cheered me up. Perhaps due to it being supremely niche by the grand scheme of things, so any amount of effort felt like stepping up a giant flight of stairs in one go. Never underestimate the power of word of mouth as they say.
